What's the difference between Samsam M2 contract cancellation and early move-out?
New users often confuse these two.
“If I cancel before move-in, do I get a refund?”, “If I move out early after moving in, can I get the unused days back?”
Contract cancellation and early move-out are completely different. Refund rules differ, and not knowing can cost you.
Samsam M2 contract cancellation — ending the contract before move-in
Contract cancellation means you terminate the contract before moving in after payment has been made.
The main point: a penalty applies.
Samsam M2’s official site states:
“As with standard real-estate contracts, cancelling a booking means the deposit isn’t returned; Samsam M2 short-term rentals are rental contracts, so the cancelling party is responsible and penalties apply per each room’s refund policy.”
In particular, if you cancel on the day of payment, a 10% penalty of the rent is charged regardless of the refund policy.
Refunds take up to 3 days for bank transfers and up to 7 days for card payments.

Samsam M2 early move-out — leaving before the contract end date
Early move-out means you move in, then leave before the contract expires.
The key point: unused days’ rent is not refunded.
Samsam M2’s official site states:
“Early move-outs are handled like standard rental contracts; rent for unused remaining days is not refunded.”
If you book 4 weeks and leave after 2, the remaining 2 weeks’ rent won’t be returned. The security deposit is returned after the host checks the room.

How to reduce losses if you might move out early
To avoid the risk of no refund for unused days, it’s safer to book a shorter initial period and extend if needed.
Booking 2 weeks and extending as plans change usually costs you less than booking 4 weeks up front.
